Ardmair House

Located in the Scottish Highlands, Ardmair House has been designed to address the harsh climate as well as focusing on harnessing the surrounding views. The building is nestled into the side of an earth bank which also maintains much of the existing hedgerow aiding to dissipate wind as it travels inland. The pitched roof then follows the angle of the bank creating a sheltered area at the front of the building while shielding the main entrance to the rear.

Located on the upper ground floor the living space and kitchen by way of its positioning and design received direct sunlight for the entire day also framing views of Isle Martin and Loch Canaird. The bedrooms then feed off the spine corridor which is terminated at each end with views and access to external space. Located on the lower level the car port provides the client with an alternative access point into the house during times of significantly bad weather.
